Simplify Mom Life

Disconnect from your phone, Reconnect with yourself. (a 30 day challenge and why I‘m doing it)

I haven’t been posting much since I’ve come back to blogging and podcasting. The truth is, I crashed. Looking back now I am so thankful I did.

The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout this time is this:  Sometimes you have to slow down and take a step back before you can move forward.

I am so tempted to share my story here, but I am going to save my story for when I get back from this 30-day challenge. However, I do feel like I need to give you a little backstory to what led up to this challenge!

At the end of December, I got laid off. It forced me to slow way down. My kids are all in school during the day, so I’ve had a lot of alone time – something I never allowed myself to have before.

The problem was, If I wasn’t constantly busy, I felt like I was failing. And when I wasn’t busy, I would distract my mind with my phone. Then, I would feel even more down on myself for wasting time.

After identifying this cycle, I realized that my “busyness” wasn’t even productive, it was a way to distract myself from my own mind.

This realization brought me back to my original desire for minimalism: To simplify my life so I could focus more on what matters. I used to feel so in tune to minimalism, but now I felt like I had wandered away from it and once again, I felt lost.

I started focusing on being present and finding ease in my day-to-day life once again. I have found so much healing and peace in slowing down and stepping back from “busyness.” There is just one thing that has been hindering me from moving forward – my phone.

That’s why I am posting today. My hope is that you will join me in turning down the outside noise so we can reconnect with what’s truly inside.

I will be sharing what this challenge is about, what it will look like for me, and also what you can expect from me moving forward.

Disconnect from your phone, Reconnect with yourself.

A 30-day challenge to reclaim your inner peace.

Who it’s for: If you’re tired of constantly being distracted by your phone, feeling guilty about the amount of time you are spending on it, and am ready to break free from the anxiety it causes – Come join me.

The Purpose: This 30-day challenge is all about disconnecting from your phone so you can slow down, reconnect with your inner peace, and find clarity in your life so you can be more present and intentional moving forward.

My Hope for myself: To work through any thoughts or feelings that come up without trying to distract myself from them. Also, to find more clarity about my plans for the future and be more present and intentional in my day-to-day life.

How it is going to work: I am going to delete all social media, video, game, podcast, and shopping apps from my phone and keep them off for 30 days. The more apps you can declutter, the better! Remember, your phone is going to be used as a tool during this time – not for entertainment or an escape.

My Journey: I am going to share my journey with you when I come back in 30 days. If you are on my email list, I will update you halfway through.

When I get back: I am going to update you on how the challenge went, unpack what has been going on in my life, and some changes I will be making to Simplify Mom Life.

What my plans are for Simplify Mom Life: I am no longer working and have decided that I am at a point in life where I am ready to commit to full time blogging and podcasting. During this break, I am breaking it down to the basics and getting clear on my business plan for the long term. So stay updated, lots of fun changes are coming!

If you want to join me: Like I said, most of my apps will be deleted, but I will be checking my email from time to time. If you want to communicate with me during this time, you can sign up for my email list by clicking here. Once you sign up for my emails, you can click reply to any email you get, and it will go directly to me.

I will email you back and keep in touch with you during this time as we work towards ending our phone addiction and reconnecting to our real lives. I would love to have you join me!

Also, feel free and share this with your friends and family to see if anyone wants to do it with you. At the end of this challenge, my hope is that we can all feel a lot more connected in the real world.

Talk to you soon!
